Democratic House counsel to publish book on Trump impeachment

A Democratic House impeachment counsel is writing a book about the impeachment of President Trump that is set to be released next month.

Norman Eisen announced Tuesday that his book, A Case for the American People: The United States v. Donald J. Trump, is set to be released on July 28 and will be published by Crown. Eisen also served as the ambassador to the Czech Republic during the presidency of Barack Obama.

“In this behind-the-scenes account of the attempts to bring the president to justice — from filing the first legal actions against him, through the Mueller report, the turbulent impeachment investigation and trial, to ongoing efforts to hold the president accountable for his continued wrongdoing — I pull back the curtain and deliver the whole story of the president’s impeachment, from start to finish,” Eisen said on his website about the book.

Trump was impeached by the Democratic-led House after accusations that he improperly pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his political rival and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The accusations came after a whistleblower complaint was filed. A transcript of a call between Trump and Zelensky was released prior to the trial, which Trump defended as a “perfect” call. The Senate acquitted Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress along party lines earlier this year.
